8.2/10 (Expert Score)
Product is rated as #7 in category Wired Headphones
Marshall's debut wireless headphones turned out to be worth the money on all counts: a deep and loud sound that may not be suitable for every music lover, but fans of powerful, energetic and dynamic compositions will surely be admired. The battery really holds a charge longer than the declared 30 hours, which allows you to do without recharging for weeks. And, of course, all other Bluetooth products with similar sound quality are more expensive, which makes the Marshall Major II Bluetooth an ideal option, taking into account its cost. Of the minuses, we can only note that they are not very suitable for hours of listening, as they are pressed strongly enough to the ears, and they will also not be comfortable on a long journey, as they do not add up completely.

PROS:
  • A good, pushy sound;
  • High maximum volume;
  • Good passive sound insulation;
  • Long battery life
  • Easy to connect to Bluetooth devices;
  • Convenient joystick control;
CONS:
  • Not suitable for all music genres;
  • Headphones put pressure on the ears, so after a few hours of listening to music you need to give your ears a rest;
  • Not everyone will like a vintage design with texture under old leather.

Marshall Major II Bluetooth review

The first Marshall over-ear headphones with more than 30-hour battery capacity, laconic controls, and a relatively compact design continue the glorious traditions of one of the oldest British sound amplifier companies.

Classic look from Marshall

Marshall Major II Bluetooth review

Marshall headphones are traditionally distinguished by their original style, referring to their amplifiers’ design, thanks to which the company gained its unshakable fame. Square black earphones with a characteristic textured surface and a white Marshall logo look no-frills and done in retro style. Fans of vintage look will definitely appreciate their attractiveness. Also, headphones look lighter and more elegant than other representatives of this type.

Headphones are fixed with thick wire arms and connected to a flexible upholstered headband covered with a leather texture. At the ends of the headband, there are laconic brass inserts.

Major II Bluetooth are full-fledged on-ear headphones. Small square ear pads more likely cling to your ears than cover them, so the headphones sit quite confidently. However, they are practically not felt while you are engaged in your activities during the day. When they are not needed, they can add up a little, but they cannot be fully folded, making them not very convenient for traveling. They also look powerful, which clearly should speak in favor of their durability.

Control

Marshall Major II Bluetooth review

Only two buttons are available on Major II Bluetooth headphones: on the right earphone, there is a power button, which also activates the pairing mode when pressed twice. A tiny joystick is available on the left earphone. A small metal depending on the pressing direction, can adjust the sound volume, skip, stop, and start playing tracks.

Like most Bluetooth earphones, the Major II comes with a standard cable, which will become indispensable if you run out of battery or you want to listen to something directly from your computer. But the most interesting thing is that you can use the cable to play music on any other device using the headphones as a Bluetooth receiver. Thus, you can share any track with a friend using a regular headphone cable anywhere – onboard an airplane, in a train compartment, or in the office. Apt-X support is available in Major II Bluetooth, which provides improved quality of wireless connection, if, of course, your smartphone is equipped with this standard.

Noise Reduction and Sound in Marshall Major II Bluetooth

Marshall Major II Bluetooth review

These headphones can significantly reduce the amount of background noise, even though they are overhead. Earpads also block outgoing sounds down to the loudest level, which is good since Marshalls sound very loud. Actually, the sound is focused on bass parts and mid-tones, with a sufficiently deep and unreflected sound, as for headphones with such small over-ear headphones.

Most of all, rock music is combined with these headphones – you need to include such cult tracks as Nirvana – Smells Like Teen Spirit, or Deep Purple – Smoke on the water. You will be captivated by all the power and dynamics of the legendary rock and roll reefs. For example, in the composition of Falling Alicia Keys, the sound tends to focus on double bass and drums to the detriment of the vocal part.

Battery

Marshall claims that the Major II can last up to 30 hours without recharging, and it seems that they even slightly underestimated the battery’s capabilities. For example, if you listen to them for at least three hours during the working week for three weeks, they will continue to work, with more than 30 hours. Thus, these wireless headphones can be charged almost once a month, and do not worry about the charge. As a last resort, we always have a universal cable at hand.

Cost

The price tag of Major II Bluetooth starts at 72.33 dollars, which puts the headphones in the relatively low price segment among premium wireless products. It is worth noting that devices with similar battery life and similar sound usually cost from $72.33.

Verdict: Should you buy Marshall Major II Bluetooth?

Marshall’s debut wireless headphones turned out to be worth the money on all counts: a deep and loud sound that may not be suitable for every music lover, but fans of powerful, energetic, and dynamic compositions will surely be admired.

The battery really holds a charge longer than the stated 30 hours, which allows you to do without recharging for weeks. And, of course, all other Bluetooth products with similar sound quality are more expensive, which makes the Marshall Major II Bluetooth an ideal option, taking into account its cost.

Of the minuses, we can only note that they are not very suitable for hours of listening, as they are pressed strongly enough to the ears, and they will also not be comfortable on a long journey since they do not fold completely.
